Theme Stated [5]: We are introduced to the central theme or lesson of the story. Theme stated in opening scene - Icarus' desire for freedom, and liberation -- to not have his disability hold him back in life, using his flight a both a metaphor for disability and a direct depiction. Spififcally hold him back from his dream of being a writer, though most of his life he never considered himself an active player, just a passive observer, witch is later changed in him through Robbie, so he's not at the start talking about freedom to achieve his dreams, as he has never been allowed or had a reason to have them,...
